2024 Rocket
Our 8th release, the 2024 Rocket Chardonnay, once again launches from the elevated slopes of Lenswood — a site that continues to define purity and tension in Chardonnay. The season delivered fruit of exceptional intensity and clarity, captured here in a wine that is both powerful and precise. Aromas of lemon pith, brown lime and white stone fruit are layered with subtle struck-flint complexity and a touch of nutty oak. The palate is driven and tightly coiled, with mineral acidity and a fine pithy edge carrying the fruit through a long, moreish finish. Full malolactic fermentation and 45% new oak bring texture and gravitas without weighing down its energy. A focused, linear Chardonnay with lift and length — a wine of momentum and quiet force.

James Suckling 98 Points - 4th in Top 100 Australian wines 2025

Flashy, minerally and restrained aromas of grilled lemons, struck match, salted nuts, citrus blossoms, phosphorus, oyster shells and honeysuckle. The palate is tightly wound, with excellent density of fruit cut through by electric acidity and bright, tense clarity that leaves a mouthwatering finish of oatmeal plus savory and saline undertones. It’s hard to believe this is 100% malolactic given the high-voltage, energetic drive. This is truly excellent and all class. Drink or hold. Screw cap. Halliday Wine Companion 2027 - 97 Points
The '24 Rocket is tight and powerful, with momentous drive. The acidity courses through at subsonic speed, with gunflint, green apple and white peach clinging in the thrill of its wake. Savory notes and grapefruit pith reign supreme this vintage, the smell of quartz broken open, water running through, ozone and mineral texture. Grilled lime and crushed nuts expand over the palate through the finish, which is decidedly long. “Catch your breath, out-of-this-world good.” Screw cap. 12.5% alc. RATING 97

The Wine Advocate 96+ Points
The 2024 The Rocket Chardonnay leads with a spicy reduction on the nose, with notes of freshly picked curry leaf, caper brine, preserved lemon rind and yellow peach. In the mouth, the wine is crunchy, saline, textural and expansive. Far from clipping the fruit, the reduction feels to open it up through the finish, showing real freedom of expression and ease. This is a beautiful wine, one that is as delicate as it is a statement of winemaking. It seems effortless, despite the clear effort. 12.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. SYDNEY ROYAL WINE SHOW 2025 - GOLD 95 Points

South Australia Wine Guide 2026 - 95 points
The top shelf of Murdoch Hill Chardonnays, out of the estate’s Lenswood vineyard.
The winemaking is evident, house reductive characters to the fore, with a neat lift of quality, just sweet oak spice in the aromas. Seductive. Fruit is cooler sited and tight, with superb balancing of acidity and flavour, lemon squeezed over white stone fruits. Length and pleasure assured. Drink now–2036

Tilbury 2024
crafted from 100% Lenswood fruit, the 2024 Tilbury opens with lifted aromas of lime, lemon, white nectarine and a subtle hint of green apple. A gentle flinty reduction adds complexity while keeping the profile fresh and vibrant.

The palate is pure and finely structured, driven by citrus and white stone fruit. A mineral acid line provides length and clarity, supported by an elegant, pithy phenolic texture. Matured in 30% new oak, this wine shows finesse, balance and a long, focused finish.

ADELAIDE HILLS WINE SHOW 2025 - GOLD

James Suckling - 96 points
Mineral-driven with a restrained edge and a lovely core of fruit, giving aromas of sliced lemons, citrus blossoms, grapefruit and phosphorus, with a vivid crushed-stone edge. The palate is tightly wound, with a textural yet refined mouthfeel, striking acidity and a chalky feel. This is excellent, giving immediate pleasure and showing good aging potential. Drink or hold. Screw cap.

The 2025Murdoch Hill Chardonnay showcases bright and focused fruit flavors, with notes of citrus, green apple, and zesty grapefruit. Its vibrant acidity and precise structure create a refreshing and elegant palate, reflecting the cool climate of Adelaide Hills.

Careful barrel fermentation and lees work add layers of complexity, giving the wine subtle depth and finesse. With a fine acid line and a balanced, refreshing finish, this Chardonnay is both vibrant and refined, perfect for enjoying now or cellaring for additional complexity.

The Wine Advocate 93 points
The 2025 Chardonnay is saline and pure, showing none of the seductive reduction that is present in the top cuvées, though I must say, I like the fact that there is stylistic diversity within the one portfolio. This is delicate and unfettered, showing an elegance and limpidity that I find most attractive. It is warmly recommended. 13% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.
