Trophy Best South Australian Shiraz, 2022 Melbourne Royal Wine Awards.
#2 in Top 2021 Shiraz Adelaide Hills - The Real Review
96 Points Stuart Knox (The Real Review)
Deep and dense ruby core with purple glints at the rim. Deeply fragrant with mulberry, nori, and pepper spice aromas. Medium bodied with dark fruits, black slate and nori flavours flowing through a tightly wound core. Tannins are fine-grained but powerful and they ensure the line and length is prodigious. Has many years ahead of it.
96 Points Halliday
Has excellent colour grading to a vivid purple-crimson rim. The bouquet and palate sing lustily from the same page, with black fruits, spices, dark chocolate, licorice and sandalwood. It's built for the long haul.

Vintage 2023 marked our 25th year of winemaking it all that began when the family’s Oakbank property was first planted to vines by parents Julie and Charlie Downer in 1998. In this year we had the opportunity to source some Sauvignon Blanc grapes, these were made and bottled under the careful eye of winemaker, Brian Light. The rest is history!

With 50% fruit from Lenswood and 50% from Piccadilly the Phaeton has layers of complexity. With a dense core of fruit and beautiful aromatic fragrance the Phaeton is still delicate and pure with cherries and forest floor berries, subtle spice, and a touch of warm earthiness. It perfectly showcases the delicate characters of Pinot Noir from the Lenswood and Piccadilly sub-regions.
