-
- Nestled behind the Oakbank Township, the vineyard is planted to varying aspects and soil types allowing us to produce a unique range of wines from a single vineyard.
- Vine Positioning: A predominately east facing slope produces Shiraz of more finesse by avoiding the harsh afternoon sun.
- Soil Structure: Rocky top soil with sandy loam over medium clay subsoils.
- Canopy Management: Vertical Shoot Positioning (VSP), canopy trimming and bunch thinning.
- Vintage:
- Warm dry conditions during the ripening period brought the optimal ripeness forward by several weeks. 2008 was an unusually warm vintage for the Adelaide Hills which has given great depth of flavour and produced a more fruit forward wine style. The cooler conditions in the hills, particularly during the nights, ensured retention of fruit freshness to produce a more elegant, lifted wine.
- Style & Tasting Notes:
- Fragrant berry fruits are lifted by notes of white pepper and vanilla which
open up to more gamey, earthy aromas. On the palate, succulent bright red fruits dominate and are moulded with fine creamy vanilla oak flavours. The fruit and soft acid structure carries the palate onto fine chalky tannins, integrated with some savoury and mild toasty flavours on the finish.
