- Vine Positioning: A predominately north facing slope, maximizes sunlight and facilitates ripening.
- Soil Structure: Sandy loam over medium clay subsoils.
- Canopy Management: Vertical Shoot Positioning (VSP), canopy trimming and finger and thumb pruning.
- Vintage:
- A windy spring limited flowering and naturally controlled crop levels throughout the vineyard. With very few exceptions, the ripening period was mild to cool resulting in excellent fruit development and acid retention.
- Style & Tasting Notes:
- The Murdoch Hill 2006 Shiraz exhibits the classic cool climate spicy pepper bouquet. It shows rich varietal fruit characters of blackberries and cherries. The depth of the berry fruit characters is supported by well integrated fine oak resulting in an attractive wine with excellent structure and length of flavour supported by firm persistent tannins. This wine is bottled under screwcap to maintain consistency in each bottle.
