- Vintage:
- Overall, the 2007 vintage in the Adelaide Hills was warm and dry. While it was a challenging year in some areas, Murdoch Hill’s vineyards were only minimally affected by late season frost in some low lying pockets. However, through specific grape selection, quality remained very high. Yields were a bit lower due to the drought conditions yet vine balance was maintained with supplemented irrigation to ensure optimal flavour development.
- Winemaking:
- Harvesting occurred at night when the fruit was at optimal ripeness. Whole bunches were crushed, chilled and pressed to retain aromatics. Cool fermentation in temperature controlled tanks was employed to capture distinctive, primary fruit characters. The wine was then filtered and bottled to capture these characters, resulting in a fresh, early drinking wine style.
